Crystal Pancipanci, known as “PANCI”, is a celebrated Hawaii-based celebrity stylist and beauty expert who has made significant impact on the fashion and beauty industry in the islands. As the founder of PANCI STYLE, Crystal excels as a stylist, makeup artist, fashion event producer, image consultant, and TV personality. Her expertise is widely sought after, and she frequently appears on television and in various media outlets, offering invaluable beauty tips and fashion advice.
Crystal's creative direction has graced the runways of Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Nordstrom. Her work has been featured in Ala Moana Magazine, Miami Magazine, and Modern Luxury. She has appeared as a correspondent on TV segments for the Today Show, Good Morning America, KITV4, Hawaii News Now, and “Dear Panci” on KHON’s Living808. As a renowned makeup artist, she has styled celebrities such as Kimora Lee Simmons, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Daniel Dae Kim.
Raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii, Crystal's humble beginnings in a plantation-style home surrounded by lychee fruit trees instilled in her a strong work ethic. Crystal and her brother spent their summers picking lychee fruit and selling the fruit by the pound to friends, family, local grocery stores, and working weekends at the Kam (Kamehameha) swap meet with their family. Here, she first learned the value of hard work, hustle and the art of thrifting. At 15, Crystal began freelancing as a makeup artist and stylist for her friends to help fund her educational journey at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. And although these early experiences styling friends and family shaped her passion for beauty and fashion, she started her journey at UH Manoa majoring in architecture; it wasn’t until her junior year she found her true calling. After switching majors, and a summer internship abroad working with major fashion houses, she produced her first fashion show, the UH Senior Fashion Showcase and the road to PANCI STYLE truly began.
After graduation, Crystal built her name through her work as Marketing Director for As Seen on TV Hawaii Stores, freelancing, and roles in television. In 2008, PANCI Style was born—and Crystal began building her brand on the mainland and became a mainstay in New York, attending every fashion week and working shoots from coast to coast. In 2009, Crystal joined Nordstrom’s national fashion and production teams—and later became the Neiman Marcus and Macy’s television spokesperson and stylist, hosting shows in Hawaii and Los Angeles.
“Doing this show is a love letter to my younger self and my daughter, Hailey. From the Big Pineapple to the Big Apple, I’m so proud of how far we have come, and I hope to inspire others to shoot for the stars,” Crystal reflects.
This summer, Crystal returns to her roots by taking on the role of Creative Director and Producer for the 2024 Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by Bank of Hawaii Foundation. This event is a homecoming for Crystal, who previously styled the first collection for the 2012 GLAM! show.
Goodwill Goes GLAM! is a three-day fundraising event celebrating sustainable fashion and supporting Goodwill Hawaii’s mission of helping individuals overcome employment barriers. “We’re so excited and grateful to be working with Crystal Pancipanci,” says Goodwill Hawaii President & CEO Katy Chen. “Her reputation as a guru of all things fashion and beauty precedes herself, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us this year.”
Founded in 1902, Goodwill has helped more than 9 million people with placement services, job training, and community programs for those with employment challenges. The organization provides these opportunities through its network of more than 4,200 retail thrift stores worldwide. Goodwill began operating in Hawaii in 1959 and has served the local community for 65 years. In 2012, Goodwill Goes GLAM! was created as a way to offer education, training, and support for Hawaii residents who are looking for jobs. More than 10,000 people statewide benefit from this annual event.
The 13th annual Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by the Bank of Hawai‘i Foundation will be held July 18 to 20 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. The theme for this year’s event is “re-WERK” in the spirit of taking upcycled fashion pieces and creating chic looks that have been “re-werked.”
Runway looks styled by Pancipanci will be available for purchase after the fashion show at the GLAM! Sale, which runs from July 19 to 20. This 20,000-square-foot pop-up sale also features stylish Goodwill finds, such as designer fashion, trendy accessories, vintage housewares, and one-of-a-kind collectibles. All of it, curated from community donations to Goodwill Hawaii.
“I believe that understanding the difference between fashion and style empowers us to express ourselves authentically. Fashion is about trends, while style reflects personal values and identity,” says Crystal. “I’m honored and excited to produce, style, and curate this year’s fashion show, adding some extra glam for Good.”
The fashion show gala begins at 7 p.m. HST on Thursday, July 18, 2024—tickets to the gala include early VIP access to the GLAM! Sale happening from 8 to 10 p.m. HST that evening—while the free pop-up market is happening Friday and Saturday. (Learn more about this important event that empowers local communities in Hawaii.)
“It’s all about fashion for a good cause,” says Pancipanci. “Thrifting and shopping vintage is a huge fashion movement, and as a fashion stylist, it’s about the thrill of the hunt to find those perfect pieces and transform them into something special for your wardrobe. I’m constantly amazed by the incredible finds at Goodwill. Embracing thrifting not only allows us to create unique styles but also promotes recycling and sustainability, which is essential for the future of fashion.”
